The Europe Debate, 4 February

PICTFOR was delighted to hold the “The Europe Debate” on 4th February 2014 in the Grand Committee Room, Houses of Parliament.

The event was focused on whether UK technology companies benefit from EU membership, and whether the digital single market is good for UK business.

We heard from academics, industry leaders, and political figures including Bill Cash MP, Chair of the European Scrutiny Committee. The evening was hosted by PICTFOR Co-Chairs Chi Onwurah MP and Stephen Mosley MP, and moderated by The Guardian’s technology editor, Charles Arthur.

PICTFOR help launch the report ‘How Computers Can Transform Rehabilitation’

On Tuesday 22nd October, PICTFOR, in partnership with the Penal Affairs APPG, held a launch for the report Through the Gateway: How Computers Can Transform Rehabilitation. The report, written by the Prison Reform Trust and Prisoners Education Trust, examines the use of information and communication technology (ICT) in prisons and its potential as a tool for rehabilitation.

PICTFOR discusses the Government’s ‘Digital by Default’ agenda

PICTFOR held a panel discussion in conjunction with BCS on Wednesday 11th September on Digital by Default, the Government’s commitment to bring all public facing services online by April 2018 as part of its Digital Strategy. It is estimated that this strategy could transform government services and save between £1.7 and £1.8 billion a year once in place.

Panellists included Richard Heaton, Permanent Secretary at the Cabinet Office; Liam Maxwell Government CTO; David Evans, Membership Director of BCS; Peter Measey, CEO of Radtac and Stephen Mosley MP, Member of the Science & Technology Select Committee and Co-Chair of PICTFOR.
