Event report: Shoreditch Summer Reception 2017 – The Next Generation of Tech

On Wednesday, 23 August 2017 Pictfor held our first event outside of Parliament. Styled as the Shoreditch Summer Reception we invited our Parliamentarian and industry members as well as future potential members including a wider network of those new to the tech and political sectors.

Sponsored by BCS, the theme of the event was the next generation of technology. Speakers discussed the future of technology, the skills that the next generation needs, and how the next generation will shape the technology of the future.

Professor Tom Crick MBE CEng CSci FBCS, Vice-President of BCS and Professor of Computer Science and Public Policy chaired the event. Speakers included:

  • Darren Jones MP, Member of Parliament for Bristol North West
  • Lee Rowley MP, Member of Parliament for North East Derbyshire
  • Catherine Knivett, Principal Policy Officer, Digital Skills at Greater London Authority
  • Barry Whyte, COO at Decoded, Co-founder of Series Q and Founder at Veero
  • Maxine Mackintosh, Co-Founder, OneHealthTech
