Panel Event – How can we ensure the Fourth Industrial revolution benefits everyone?

June 20 @ 5:30 pm - 7:00 pm

The rise of the gig economy and the changing world of work has inspired an ongoing ethical debate.

Advances in technology including industrial digitalisation and artificial intelligence have the capacity to further alter current models of employment and necessitate discussion around the digital end user’s perspective and consumer issues. What will the future world of work look like and can we ensure that any benefits are shared by society?

This event will cover the following issues:

  • Ethics and modern employment including productivity, digitalisation, innovation and regulation and the Taylor Review on the future of work as well as the jobs of the future and ethical implications
  • Innovation and the impact on society from increased AI, automation, biotech, autonomous vehicles, block chain, 3D printing, quantum computing and the IOT
  • Putting citizens first including the digital end user’s perspective and consumer issues
  • Examining major societal changes from earlier industrial revolutions to theorize likely changes from the 4IR and what we can do to reverse stratification and ensure that all of society benefits equally in the future
  • The value of the tech sector
