‘Make IT Happy 2013’ competition is awarded CyberSmart Award

We are delighted that Make IT Happy, the annual primary schools competition delivered by e-skills UK and PICTFOR with support from the IET and Nominet Trust, has been awarded first runner-up prize in the CyberSmart Awards 2013.

The CyberSmart Awards are run in partnership with ESET and recognise the inspirational organisations, schools, businesses, charities and individuals across the UK that are working on initiatives to educate people about Internet safety.

‘Make IT Happy”, which is now in its 7th year, has a theme for 2013 of ‘Make IT Happy, Make IT Safe’. The competition is giving pupils aged 9-11 the chance to find out more about using the internet safely, and then to tell other people what they’ve learned. At no cost to schools or teachers, the competition offers 4.5 hours’ worth of detailed lesson plans and other resources to help teachers and students explore the importance of cyber safety. The competition is UK-wide, with prizes for Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland and nine English regions. There’s more than £23,000 in prize money as well as a fantastic trip to the Houses of Parliament for the winning schools.

The competition is now closed and the winners will be announced at the end of May, however all schools are still welcome to sign up and use the ‘Make IT Happy, Make IT Safe’ e-safety learning resources. PICTFOR congratulates all involved for their excellent work and looks forward to celebrating with the winners in Parliament on 24th June.
